“Where the first door was carved, and the story truly began.”

Pearse told me his book had less chapters than mine..

Our Story

A Legacy of Love, Design & Craftsmanship

In 2020, while the world stood still, something quietly magical took root in a rented back garden in Sheering, a little village just outside Harlow.

Sharon Collins had long dreamed of designing a space unlike anything else—a garden retreat with curves, character, and warmth. With a creative spark and a sketchbook full of ideas, she imagined a handcrafted hideaway that felt like it belonged in a fairytale.

Her partner, Pearse Collins—a master carpenter with over 25 years of experience—helped bring that vision to life. Shielding at home during the pandemic, he could no longer work on-site, but he could still build. So, while Sharon designed the nook—its layout, its details, its storybook feel—Pearse brought her vision into the world, shaping each piece with skill and heart. He designed the unique dual-pitched roof that gave it its fairy-tale charm.

The result was a round-doored sanctuary made from reclaimed materials—full of light, soul, and wonder. Strangers stopped to admire it. Friends said, "You have to share this with the world."

It was the beginning of something beautiful.

Life Changed...

Plans were set in motion. But in January 2023, Pearse was diagnosed with cancer. Over the following months, Sharon and Pearse held on to each other tightly. They were married in July 2024 after 18 wonderful years together.

Pearse passed away just five weeks later.

The Garden Nook Company is Born

Today, Sharon carries forward what they began together.

The Garden Nook Company is more than a business. It’s a tribute to Pearse’s craftsmanship, a celebration of Sharon’s creative vision, and a legacy for their son, Ché. Each nook is still designed by Sharon—infused with the same soul and storybook charm she dreamed up from the very beginning.

From curved doorways to woodland-inspired interiors, from reclaimed wood to soft, oak floors—every detail is carefully considered, lovingly crafted, and full of heart.

“Pearse taught me that beauty lives in the details—the curve of a door, the grain of reclaimed wood. Every garden nook carries that spirit forward.”
— Sharon Collins
