Humans, Dogs & Knooklets - Behind the Magic

“Wizards in sawdust, weavers of walls — these are the hands that turn planks into places. And if you look closely, you might just spot the Nooklings, tucking magic into the corners when no one’s watching.

About Sharon

Sharon Edge - Collins

Founder | The Garden Nook Company

Business Educator | Construction Leader | Legacy Builder

I’m Sharon Edge-Collins, founder of The Garden Nook Company — a business born from love, loss, and a shared dream.

After 18 years together, my husband Pearse and I finally married in July 2024. Just five weeks later, I lost him to cancer. What we built together — including our handcrafted garden room during lockdown — became the seed of something bigger. Today, every Nook we create is rooted in his vision and crafted with the care he was known for.

I live in the Essex countryside with my 17-year-old son Che and our two giant, lovable dogs, Bowski and Laszlo. Together, we’re continuing Pearse’s legacy, one garden nook at a time.

Professionally, I’m a qualified Business and Economics teacher with a law degree and over 20 years of experience in education and enterprise. I’ve taught everything from start-up strategy to degree-level economics, and I previously led operations at Harlow Museum and Science Alive, where I grew visitor numbers by over 2000% through creative community programming.

But I’m equally at home in the construction industry. Earlier in my career, I built and led the UK’s most profitable trades recruitment desk, supplying over 150 tradespeople to the Ministry of Defence Whitehall refurbishment — the largest building site in the country at the time. I know the realities of running sites, sourcing labour, negotiating contracts, and keeping high-pressure projects moving.

Now, I bring all of that experience — education, construction, creativity, and grit — into The Garden Nook Company. Every build we complete honours Pearse’s craftsmanship and our shared belief in making soulful, sustainable spaces that feel like a little bit of magic at the bottom of the garden.

The Nooklings

They’re small, these Nooklings. No taller than a toadstool, no louder than a sigh through the trees.

You won’t always see them — but you’ll know when they’ve passed: a hammer left askew, a curl of wood where no wind blows, the scent of cedar that wasn’t there before.

Born from sawdust and spark, the Nooklings arrive just before the first log is placed. They carry tools too tiny to see, tucked into belts stitched from leaf thread and bark ribbon. Some say they ride robins to site. Others say they live inside the beams, whispering advice through the grain.

But all agree on this:

No Nook is ever truly finished unless the Nooklings have blessed it.

So if your kettle whistles on its own, or a window latch swings gently shut behind you — smile.

The Nooklings were here. And your story has begun.
